Yukon Tourism

Travelling to Yukon is a unique experience. Yukon is filled with nearly pristine nature and is perfect for anyone who loves the great outdoors. From the crisp, clean air to the rugged tundra and the magical Northern Lights, Yukon vacations are all about embracing nature. Outdoor adventures and scenic drives are a huge part of enjoying your trip. If you stay at one of the centrally-located Yukon cabins, you'll be near everything the region has to offer without much travel.

Yukon Climate

Yukon weather varies depending on how far north you decide to travel. Yukon winters are generally very long and cold, which means that hardly any vegetation grows in many areas. Yukon is also known for its "midnight sun." Due to its location, the sun doesn't set in the summer months. As you go farther north, this period of time lasts longer. In the winter, the situation is reversed and the sun does not rise for months. Again, the farther north you travel, the longer you will be without sun.

Average winter temperatures range between -10 and -20 degrees Celsius. However, if you head to the far north, you'll find that it can get as cold as -50 in some areas! During the summer, average temperatures range between 0 and 20 degrees. On some long summer days it can get as warm as 25 degrees.

Yukon Cabins: Things To Do And See

One of the most famous attractions in Canada's north is the Northern Lights. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, this natural light show is an incredible sight to behold. The Northern Lights appear during late fall and early winter. Several Yukon travel companies offer Northern Lights tours that bring visitors to the locations that are best for viewing the show. Many Yukon cabins offer special viewing areas where you can enjoy the Northern Lights. Whether you're on a heated viewing deck, an enclosed patio or relaxing in a hot tub and staring at the sky, you'll want a great spot to watch!

Yukon tourism is all about nature. Dog sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, rafting and other outdoor adventures will keep you active and allow you to see the breathtaking wilderness from a variety of different angles. Fishing, golfing, canoeing and kayaking are other popular activities.

Yukon vacations are exciting for everyone and the magical trip begins with a stay in one of the many wonderful Yukon cabins available.
