Our original summer cottage was completely renovated in 2009 to become a larger, modern, four season retirement home. The open concept floor plan, very high white pine, cathedral ceilings and panoramic views from abundant windows combine to create bright, spacious living areas.

A focal point of the living room is the original brick, wood-burning fireplace now airtight with heating fans.  There is ample seating in this room for enjoying fires or watching the 52-inch flat screen high def. TV with PVR and Blue Ray player. The formal dining room's antique mahogany table extends to seat 10 people.  More casual dining is available in the antique tiger oak dinette adjacent to the custom kitchen or outside at the patio table on the lower deck level.

Two steps below the living and dining rooms are lower level sitting rooms that have east and south facing windows. The sunroom is appropriately named as nearly eighteen feet of eight-foot high windows provide a mesmerizing view of the lake.

Nearby are hiking trails, golf courses, grocery/hardware/LCBO stores, many restaurants, a gourmet butcher shop, boat rentals and medical, dental and vet clinics.

Flat Rock is a truly unique, breathtaking, 3 acre property on quiet Lake Bernard just five minutes south of the town of Sundridge, 35 minutes from downtown Huntsville and 1 hour from Parry Sound. This four-season home will appeal to the most discerning of renters who are searching for immaculate premises in a totally private setting. Our family will welcome visitors who will treasure our 87 year history on the lake and related memorabilia.  Whenever possible, we like to meet potential renters before plans are finalized; we are also delighted to show our property before final decisions are made.

Features include central air and vac, security system, 36-inch doors, pure artesian well water and an automatic generator that runs the entire cottage in the event of a power failure. 

Ample firewood is available but NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY.

Responsible dog owners are welcome; however, no cats please owing to allergies. 

Watercraft can be rented across the lake at Lake Bernard Park as our insurance does not permit boat rentals.

Waterfront and Nearby Activities

Our cottage is situated only 32 feet from the water’s edge and the 500-foot shoreline offers two completely private bays divided by a very large, wide, fine white sand beach. An additional 200 feet of undeveloped, family-owned land adjacent to the property adds to the feeling of seclusion. Shallow water spans the entire frontage and a firm sandy lake bottom makes for excellent swimming. A gently sloping granite rock leads to the beach which opens to our beloved “Flat Rock”, surrounded on three sides by water. Here, and also on the long L shaped dock, you will enjoy sunshine from sunrise to early evening.

Shade is easy to find in many sheltered areas on the property that are furnished with chaise lounges and chairs. On the beach a covered hammock that converts to a double bed is a lovely refuge for the weary.
