Although it may seem obvious, choosing the best photos of your vacation rental is probably the most important factor when advertising your cottage rental property online. However this is often overlooked. Photos of your property are the first thing potential renters see and they are one of the deciding factors on whether a renter will inquire about the cottage rental. Remember most renters will not be able to visit your property before they rent so make sure to use only quality photos. You will not be sending a very good message or representing your cottage rental very well if you post low quality or blurry pictures.
The main photo is what the renters see first so make sure it’s one that best represents your property. For example, if your vacation property is on a lake or ocean take a photo from the inside with a view to the water. This gives the renters a good visual of how it would feel to be inside while looking out at the water. If you have a ski cabin rental take a photo of the open living area with a roaring fire. People will picture themselves relaxing after a full day of winter activities. Remember your main photo is what will attract people to click on your listing page.
Once your main photo has been selected think about what rooms and outdoor areas of your vacation rental property you would like to highlight. For the inside of your cottage rental include photos of the kitchen, dining room, main living space, bedrooms, bathrooms, basement, laundry room and any other recreational room. The outside photos should show the front and back of your vacation rental home, outdoor living space, the water area (if applicable) and any outdoor features you think best represent your cottage rental.
Be sure to avoid generic photos, like animals in nature and sunsets. Even though these are nice photos to look at they do not visually describe your vacation rental property and potential renters will pass over your listing.
